Dublin
One of the Europe’s trendiest cities, Dublin pulsates with excitement. Turn a corner and discover art galleries, cafes, clubs and Georgian row houses with colorful, painted doors. During your free time in Dublin, don’t miss the breathtaking Book of Kells, written around 800 A.D. On display at the Trinity College Library, the 680-page manuscript of the Four Gospels is often described as the world’s most beautiful book. Stop in a lively pub, chat with the locals and indulge in an ale or two. Get a real taste of Ireland with a spectacular evening featuring traditional Irish cuisine with Irish music and dance! Join an optional excursion to Kilmainham Gaol (Jail). Opened in 1796, the jail is now a museum and is designated a National Monument. Ireland’s #1 international attraction is the Guinness Storehouse. Modeled after a giant pint glass, it stretches up from the reception area to The Gravity Bar in the sky, with expansive views of the city. See how the famous beer is made and pause for a welcome sample of the frothy brew. Waterford/Kinsale A stop at the Waterford Visitor Centre is a celebration of art and artisans at work. Visit the Waterford Crystal factory and meet the masters who turn their design expertise into exquisite pieces. Then it’s on to Kinsale, a quaint little coastal village that reflects the true Ireland. Kinsale’s long tradition as a wine importer also makes it the gourmet capital of the country. Famous for its beauty, Kinsale is one of Ireland’s most historic locations and is a maze of narrow streets unchanged in hundreds of years. Blarney – A kiss for luck The village of Blarney is famous for it’s fine woollens. Enjoy a visit to Blarney Castle. Built nearly 600 years ago, Blarney Castle is the patriarch of Irish fortresses and home of Ireland’s most frequently smooched landmark, the Blarney Stone. According to legend, those who kiss the stone will be endowed with the gift of the gab. Killarney – Majestic mountains and magical lakes Driving to Killarney, you’ll see some of the most beautiful countryside in all of Ireland. Killarney has been the inspiration of poets and painters for centuries. Walk though charming High Street and New Street and shop for wool sweaters, fine crystal and china. Or visit a local pub with live Irish music or dancing, certain to stir the Celtic soul within you! Dingle – 6,000 years of history The Dingle Peninsula features green landscapes, rocky hills and staggering cliffs and has preserved over 2,000 monuments and relics, representing more than 6,000 years of archeological history. With a setting like this, you can understand why movies like Ryan’s Daughter and Far and Away were filmed here. Mayflower will stop in Dingle and give you time to explore this Gaelic town. The Cliffs of Moher No trip to Ireland is complete without a stop at the dramatic Cliffs of Moher, a five-mile long precipice that drops nearly 700 feet. Fierce waves pound the jagged shore below with thundering applause as you gaze with awe at the magnitude of this natural phenomenon. Connemara Region – The real emerald of Ireland Join us for an optional excursion of the Ireland’s Connemara Region, recognized by the constantly changing light that reflects the mood of the landscape. With its natural, unspoiled terrain, you’ll take a step back in time as you hear authentic Gaelic spoken and experience the living history of old world traditions. Plan to be a part of this incredible journey, where the wind will be at your back and the luck of the Irish will be with you always All tour prices are per person, in US dollars, based on double occupancy.
